To give you a quick tour of this place, the “portfolio” section is a 24-project overview of my fave illustrations from the last decade, a mix of editorial, commercial, and personal work. The “shop” section includes dozens and dozens of my art prints, some of which are personal projects, and others that are reprints of illustrations of mine that have earned lives outside of their original context.
20 Lost Buildings of Los Angeles 17x22” print ($60 CAD)

This is a 20-point chart showing Los Angeles buildings of architectural, cultural, or social importance, all of which were bulldozed or burned out of existence between 1929 and 2015. I’ve gone through a few phases while working on this project. At first I was into mid-century modern buildings, then brutalism, then the naive and flashy early 20th century cultural appropriation styles (think Egytian revival, Mayan revival, etc.). When working on 20 Lost Buildings of LA I was turned on to what’s known as “novelty architecture,” a form of building that LA excelled at producing. I had so much to choose from: a restaurant shaped like WWI trenches, an owl-shaped ice cream shop, a real estate office shaped like a sphynx, etc. Eventually I settled on the Bulldog Cafe on West Washington Blvd., a classic smoking dog demolished in 1966. Printed in an open edition, signed and dated on reverse.
