Calgary on 13 February 1988 24” square silkscreened print ($80 CAD)
This is “Calgary on 13 February 1988,” and it shows that city on the opening day of the '88 Winter Olympics. It's one of a series of prints I made between April of 2012 and September of 2016 showing my adopted home city of Montreal, my old home town of Edmonton, and a selection of eight other Canadian cities during a specific moment in time. Consider it part of a getting-to-know-you exercise with the nation's architecture and history? Anyway, this depiction goes as far north as Peter's Drive-In, as west as Nova Tower, and as south as St. Mary's Cathedral, and includes 90 or so specific Calgary landmarks and buildings. Screenprinted in an edition of 600, signed and editioned on reverse.
