Thunder Bay 1885 24x18" print ($40 CAD)
Held together by a mess of tape, this 1885 pictorial map charms me with its 23 vignettes showing things like the “O’Connor & Co. Drug Store” interior (who most likley paid to be included near bottom left) and the screw steamer Algoma (bottom centre) that sunk in Lake Superior in November of 1885 shortly after this print was published. And of course: in 1970 Port Arthur and neighbouring Fort William were amalgamated into “Thunder Bay”, but that’s beside the point. It’s the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg all the way down. I’m selling this reproduction unframed with a half-inch margin.
