This is Winnipeg on 15 of May 1919, a day considered by many labour historians to be the hottest moment during the Winnipeg General Strike. You can imagine Main Street stretching up and down the print at its 2/3 mark, and note Winnipeg's beautiful old city hall (demolished in 1962) still stands near the prints’ top (just left of the crowd and flag). The Assiniboine and Red rivers structure the bottom and right side of the print, and a few St. Boniface structures have made it in-frame, though the neighbourhood was its own thing until 1971. Screenprinted in an edition of 800, signed and editioned on reverse.
