"Apples" print (1970)
This 1970 Apples booklet is cleverly efficient when it comes to colour usage. While my reproduction of it is printed in full colour, the original was only two (red and green), overlapping the two colours on the tree trunk and apple silhouettes to achieve a dark brown. At bottom right the basket's lighter red comes from a halftone treatment. Suddenly, two colours became four, and the printing costs remained the same. See also the Cheese print from 1969, which has enough of the same texturing style to suggest it was by the same (unnamed) artist.
A booklet cover reproduction available at 12x18" or 24x36" on Epson Enhanced Matte 192 gsm paper printed with Epson UltraChrome XD2 archival ink. Sold in an open edition, unframed. The Canada Department of Agriculture wordmark on this cover has been replaced with the words ”National Farming Forum” due to Section 9 of the Canadian Trademarks Act.
