Brandon, Manitoba, hasn't sat still for too many cartographers, but this 1950 provincial Department of Industry & Commerce map pauses an ambitious city on the move. Yes, in the 2020s the city has a Hamilton Heights, Highland Park, and Kirkcady Heights, but in 1950 north of the river is entirely speculative, full of avenues named Vaughan, Sabel, Ross, and Dufferin. Similarly, subdivisions reach into the Assiniboine's wending and winding, developments later Brandonites decided against, most likely due to flood risks.
