The Toronto Lithographing Co. published this south-facing Hamilton bird’s eye view along with a handful of other, similar, Ontarian maps in the 1890s, and it has definitely been weathered by the years. I like to think it makes up for it by showing 25 handsome architectural vignettes of early industrial Hamilton, and it’s always nice to see the city pre-Civic Square. Look closely and you can see the old City Hall at the corner of James and King William.
