"Tuberous Begonias" and "Bégonias Tubéreux" prints (1972)
Everything worth knowing about growing tuberous begonias can be found in this slim 12-page Department of Agriculture booklet, and the cover is a triumph of high modernist graphic design. It has two perfectly balancing circles. The top one: the flower itself. The bottom one: the flower, manifested in tightly kerned text as florid as the real thing. We know that J. H. Crossley and S. Arrowsmith of the Sidney, BC, Research Station wrote the booklet, but the designer is left uncredited. Available in both English and French.
A booklet cover reproduction available at 12x18" or 24x36" on Epson Enhanced Matte 192 gsm paper printed with Epson UltraChrome XD2 archival ink. Sold in an open edition, unframed. The Agriculture Canada logo on this cover has been replaced with the words ”Canadian Gardening News” and "Nouvelles Canadiennes du Jardinage" due to Section 9 of the Canadian Trademarks Act.
